1. Terrorism is NOT acceptable
Terrorism is an effort to gain a political goal using civilian targets. This is immoral, ineffective, and can not be allowed on an international scale. If terrorism were a successful means to reach a goal, a lot of problems will arise in just about every country on Earth. Terrorists everywhere is not an acceptable future. This is why the Hamas terrorist attacks have never been, and will never be justified, not even as a means to achieve releasing the economic and political blockade of Gaza. Other countries have been blocked even more severely than what Israel is doing to Gaza, like the Republic of Macedonia being blocked by Greece, the southern neighbor at the same time when the Republic of Macedonia had to effectively block Serbia, the northern neighbor, because of their own warmongering, but terrorism was not an acceptable option against Greece. A reminder that all is not so black and white: about 150,000 Palestinians are working in Israel, bringing serious money to their families during the Gaza blockade.
In the end — even though Palestinians deserve a lot of sympathies due to their israeli induced suffering — the world just has to support Israel as long as Israel is fighting Hamas terrorists.
2. Territory spreading is NOT acceptable
United Nations resolution 242 (1967) is clearly stating that Israel is holding occupied territories that should be released.
This territory spreading is unacceptable. If Israel can spread territory, why not Russia, with the justification of some vague (or concrete) provocation from the other side? How about Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Germany, France? See how bad this is? Very, very bad. And, unfortunately, this is not a huge issue internationally, but it should be. Even though Israel has occupied territories from countries that attacked Israel simultaneously, in contrast to a one-sided territory spreading, still, it is not acceptable.
3. Civilian casualties are NOT acceptable
If Ukraine attacks Russia by bombarding cities and villages with planes and helicopters, which they can do, the world will lose support for Ukraine; it will be a country against country, both doing unjustified damage to each other. It will be very hard for politicians around the world to justify helping Ukraine with money, equipment, other material or non material help. The emotional support will be gone, too.
The Fourth Geneva Convention has established that civilians are to be protected from murder, torture or brutality, and from discrimination on the basis of race, nationality, religion or political opinion.
4. Israel has the right to exist
The truth is that Israel was legally founded as a country. The truth is that Israel is an established country for decades, accepted internationally, and will continue to exist for the foreseeable future.
Hamas’ declared goal of destroying the country of Israel is unacceptable.
6. Palestinians have the right to be without a blockade
As long as Israel is doing damage to Palestinian civilians through bombardment and economic, medicinal, electrical blockades, Israel will lose wide support. It will be hard for other governments to justify helping Israel. Israel will lose the hearts of the international community, too, which is not such an insignificant issue, when one starts to think about all the anti israeli protests around the world. Israeli sports, artists, etc. will not be popular around the world, either, today, nor in the future.
It will be hard to find someone supporting the Gaza blockade that has been going on for decades. Israel is creating a very bad image of self, Jews are putting themselves in a very bad situation. Israel, and Jews in general just cannot win favors this way, but will continue to “win” hatred.
7. The way out
Palestinians should not gain anything, like their own country, releasing prisoners, even, as a result of the current conflict. If they do, terrorism will be established as an effective future tool to achieve a political goal. Being surrounded by Arabs, and people who know a lot about terrorist attacks, Israel is the last country in the world that can allow terrorism to be effective. Hamas will gain even more political support among Palestinians, and in the Arab world. No negotiations with terrorists!
After Hamas is destroyed, in the next decades, Israelis should leave the occupied territories, and allow, and support, a civilized Palestinian country.
8. This is how Hamas should be destroyed
First of all, Israel should do military operations, but only as if they were carried against Israelis within Israel. Even better: treat them as Jews. So, in a civilized manner, and this means that no bombardment should be done, as long as a single civilian can be hurt. If Israelis want to destroy a Hamas terrorist, a tunnel, or a weapons stash, or a communication building, it should be done only if it is certain that no civilians can be hurt. If civilians can be hurt, just leave them be, and search for an other way to destroy the Hamas item. When Israel deals with Palestinians in a civilized manner, even Palestinians themselves, and Arabs in general, will rise their support because of the stoic Israeli suffering. Self-inflicted terrorist damage like the hospital bombing where Hamas killed 300-500 residents of Gaza City would be very hard to justify among their own people, and it will be less believable when Hamas and other people lie that Israelis did it (if Israelis don’t do that). These events will surely decrease Hamas support among Palestinians and Arabs in general.
It is a truly despicable effort by Hamas terrorists to hide behind their own people, the people they are claiming to fight for, but it’s reality, and Israelis should not become terrorists while destroying terrorists. This effort will need more time, but it is the right way to go.
This policy should be adopted world wide, and should have been active during the western “war on terror” against Al Qaeda.
By being this much civilized, Israel may set the standard for future wars on terror in the whole world, and at the same time, will win hearts in the international community.
PS. Israeli politicians should remove Netanyahu, replacing him with a more liberal, more civilized, forward looking politician. It should be obvious that his conservative, aggressive and territory spreading policies are not good.
